Where in Korea have you been to?

<Jeju Sangumburi>

Today's destination is Jeju Island!

"Gumburi" from Sangumburi means "volcanic crater" in Jeju dialect.

Therefore, Sangumburi is the crater of a volcano of Halla mountain.

But, Jeju Sangumburi is more special than any other ones.

Sangumburi is a "Maar" crater.

There are very few maar craters all over the world and Sangumburi is the only one in Korea.

Maar craters are broad, low-relief volcanic crater.

They usually get filled up with water to form a relatively shallow crater lake, but Sangumburi isn't.

This is what makes Sangumburi even more special.

Even though this area has quite a lot of rainfall, water does not fill up the crater.

Therefore, all sorts of plants have grown around the crater, creating a beautiful garden.

Not only does the crater itself have a great view, but the surrounding area also has a magnificent view.

Just like Jeju Olle road, Sangumburi also has a paved walking course.

However, it seems as if there aren't a lot of places to hide from the sun, so get yourselves ready for the beaming sunlight or visit before it gets too hot!
