The National Museum of Korean Contemporary History
is located in Gwanghwamun Square,
a site of historic and symbolic importance!
The Museum is a place to remember the modern and contemporary history of Korea!
It is comprised of eight above-ground floors
that house for permanent exhibition halls, two special exhibition halls,
repository/storage facility, seminar rooms, cafe, museum shop, and
outdoor/rooftop gardens!

The museum contains the era from the Japanese Colonial Rule to Current Korea,
the museum hopes to raise national pride and promote national unity to contribute
to building a better future for Korea!
The museum aims to record and pass on Korea's history
of overwhelming challenges and ultimate triumph!
The museum collects, examines, studies, and displays a wide array of
materials related to the tumultuous and exciting history of modern and contemporary history.
Also, It serves as massive repository of valuable historical objects and records
as well as a cultural space for history education!

On 3rd floor,
There are Museum Shop, Hwangtomaru Cafe
which are available to have souvenirs, coffee and traditional tea and snacks
On 8th floor,
Hwangtomaru Garden is rooftop garden which is outdoor rest area overlooking Gwanghwamun
Hours : 9 am - 6pm
* Visitiors must enter the Museum by 5pm
Open until 9pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays
The Museum is closed on January 1st and every Mondays
(If Monday is a holiday, the Museum is closed on the following weekday)
Entry is free!
Guide Tours
Korean : Tue - Sun 10am, 11am, 14pm, 15pm, 16pm, 19pm (Wednesdays, Saturdays)
Foreign Languages : English, Chinese, Japanese (14:00 Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays)
It takes about an hour, Meeting point will be first floor information desk
Also, Programs may vary depending on the museum's circumstances!

Smoking is prohibited, Turning off the mobile phone or Changing into silent mode,
Photography for commercial use is prohibited, Food/Drink and animals are not allowed into the Exhibition halls!
